Frequently Asked Questions
What is Solvi?
Solvi is a native AI assistant app for iOS and Android. Unlike chat wrappers, Solvi is a full agent runtime — it can use tools on your phone (calendar, contacts, camera, etc.), maintain memory across conversations, and be extended with custom tools.
Is Solvi free?
Yes. The core app is free and fully functional with your own API key (BYOK). Optional subscription tiers (Solvi Pro, Solvi Team) add features like cloud sync and premium tools, but are not required.
What AI providers does Solvi support?
Solvi supports OpenAI and Anthropic out of the box, with more providers coming. You bring your own API key — Solvi connects directly to the provider from your device.
Where is my data stored?
Everything is stored on your device — conversations, memories, API keys (in your Keychain/Keystore), and tool results. Nothing goes to Solvi's servers. If you enable optional Cloud Sync, data is encrypted end-to-end before leaving your device.
How much does it cost to use?
The app itself is free. You pay for AI API usage directly to your chosen provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) based on their pricing. Solvi does not add any markup or fees on top of API costs.
What tools can Solvi use?
Built-in tools include web search, calculator, calendar, contacts, reminders, camera, and location. Each tool requires your explicit permission before Solvi can access it. You can also install community tools from the marketplace or build your own using the open SDK.
Is Solvi open source?
Yes. The full source code is available on GitHub. You can audit the code, contribute, or fork it. We believe transparency is essential for a privacy-first AI tool.
How do I set up my API key?
Go to Settings → API Keys, choose your provider, and paste your key. It's stored in your device's secure Keychain (iOS) or Keystore (Android) and never leaves your device.
Can I use Solvi offline?
Partially. Solvi needs an internet connection to reach AI providers for generating responses. However, your conversation history, memory, and cached tool results are available offline. Requests made offline are queued and sent when connectivity returns.
How do I delete my data?
You can delete individual conversations from within the app, clear all data from Settings → Privacy → Delete All Data, or simply uninstall the app. If you use Cloud Sync, you can delete synced data separately.
